Nini Conti: Dolly Mixtures

With the fringe fast approaching (7 days to be precise) it is time to snap up tickets to some of the best shows the fringe has to offer. One of the shows we can't wait to see is Nina Conti: Dolly Mixtures.

Background

Nina Conti is best known for being a British Actress, Comedian and Ventriloquist. She has worked as an actress since 1996 where she has appeared in many productions, she was also a member of the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) during the 2000/2001 period.

Her first ventriloquist played called Let me Out!!! which she took to the 2001 Edinburgh Festival Fringe was written for her by Ken Campbell. As well as being heavily involved in theatre she has also appeared in several Television programmes and Radio shows, Black Book, Holby City and Clare in the community to name a few.

Conti is also a well known comedian in the stand up comedy circuit. In 2002 she won the BBC New Comedy Award, and was awarded second place in the Hackney Empire, New Act of the Year

She took her first solo full length show to the Edinburgh Festival in 2007 (Complete and Conti) where she introduced some new characters as well as performing some more familiar routines.

In 2012 she appeared on Russell Howard’s Good News with her puppet named ‘Granny’. She has also appeared in a BBC4 one off documentary called Nina Conti- A ventriloquists story: Her masters voice. Taken from the edfringe website "
Groundbreaking ventriloquist Nina Conti introduces her daughter, her handyman, her local laundry proprietor, her oldest friend and a stray dog in a show that refuses to go as rehearsed. Expect a thoughtful mediation on love, life and the edge of existence. And once you've bought your ticket, let that expectation go. 'Uproariously hilarious' (Scotsman). 'I laughed until I couldn't breathe' (Melbourne Age). 'Put simply, Nina Conti is a genius' (Mirror). 'A mighty imagination at work' (Sunday Times)."

With tickets costing £14 (£12.50 C) it is worth buying tickets for what is bound to be a fantastic show.
